Campus Enterprise Opportunities (CEO) helps students staff and graduates of De Montfort University to activate their ideas. CEO events help to increase a student’s business start-up knowledge and provides valuable inspiration to help them develop their idea further. CEO is a separate project, which is part of the Business Incubation and Enterprise department that works out of the Innovation Centre at DMU.

“In a Fishbowl” is a new on-line enterprise showcase that will follow entrepreneurs as they progress along their business development and start-up journey. Established by Nottingham based entrepreneur, Toby Reid, the website aims to demonstrate the ups and downs of business life with real life experiences and examples.”

Here is just a snapshot of how Making IT! works and some of the projects it has delivered to date. As a starting point for its local delivery, Making It! was delighted to win a contract to deliver three enterprise events in the Leicestershire area through a Skills for Enterprise managed, Leicester Shire Economic Partnership funded programme, to celebrate Enterprise Week during 2008. Each event was a great example of how a private sector partner could work collaboratively with an education provider to deliver an excellent enterprise solution for young people.

The Enterprise Academy is an exciting project funded through the Local Enterprise Organisation (LEO) programme located in the Ashfield, Bolsover and Mansfield Districts in the former North Notts and Derbyshire Coalfields. Managed on behalf of LEO by no limits education, the aim of the programme is to build enterprise capabilities in twelve target schools and engage employers helping develop young peoples’ enterprise skills. As a LEO funded initiative, the Enterprise Academy is unique in the East Midlands and is already showing results.

NBV has provided guidance and assistance to new businesses across the East Midlands since 1982. With a main office base in at the Shipstone’s Business Centre in New Basford, Nottingham, the agency also has offices in Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Mansfield and Newarke as well as at New Brook House in Nottingham City. It also delivers a start-up service in Lincolnshire.

The Hive, Nottingham Trent University

The Hive is Nottingham Trent University’s purpose-built enterprise unit. In addition to supporting the creation of new businesses, The Hive also fosters the delivery of entrepreneurship education across the University.  It also contributes to the organic growth of the University through its networks, collaborations and partnerships.

Although The Hive is primarily aimed at Nottingham Trent University students and graduates, it will support anyone with a viable business idea.  Read more…

HTI (‘Headteachers into Industry’) is the leading UK charity, which works at the strategic interface between education and business.  Developing school leaders through a range of programmes, stretch assignments and opportunities, HTI’s uniqueness is the engagement of business leaders in an ongoing partnership with education. In uniting business and education, HTI aims to prepare young people for life and work.

Adding value to enterprise education across the region. A new region wide programme recently established in the East Midlands is the Enterprise Learning Partnerships (ELP). Katie Vause, the regional co-ordinator for the ELPs describes their role and purpose.
