New Entrepreneur Scholarship Commemorative Publication

Date: 21/01/2010

At the end of 2009, the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) compiled a commemorative publication to highlight and celebrate the success of the New Entrepreneur Scholarships (NES) programme, and some of the individuals who benefited from it.

The NES programme was a national scheme set up to help individuals from disadvantaged areas and backgrounds in England through a system of training, advice, mentoring and financial aid.

Managed centrally by NFEA, The Association of Business Schools (ABS) and The Prince’s Trust, the NES programme successfully helped people in the country’s most disadvantaged areas to set up successful and sustainable businesses.

Funding for the scheme unfortunately came to an end in 2008, but during its seven years as a national business support programme, NES gave nearly 6,500 people the opportunity to learn business related skills, gain a qualification, network with others and ultimately, through the provision of mentoring support and a grant, open their own business.
